Compounded Tirzepatide

Compounded medications merely mean the medication is prepared with an additional component. In the case of compounded Tirzepatide, typically it's compounded with a B-vitamin. Usually, B6 or B12 to combat nausea. The additional vitamins are in low concentrations to maintain safety and avoid unwanted side effects.

Zepbound® (tirzepatide)

Zepbound® is the commercial version of Tirzepatide. Originally manufactured by Eli Lilly as Mounjaro® and rebranded as Zepbound® for weight loss. It is equally effective but isn't compounded with any additional components. These are also packaged in pre-dosed injection pens.

Safety

Each one of our patients who wish to initiate medicine-assisted weight loss through S&N Health must undergo laboratory testing, or present labs that have been conducted in the last calendar year from a primary care provider. Although these medications are clinically safe and FDA-approved for weight loss, we intend to treat you safely and identify any other underlying causes of weight gain.

Who can't utilize tirzepatide?

Like all medications, certain cases will not be able to use tirzepatide for weight loss assistance.

Medullary Thyroid Cancer

If you or anyone in your family has a history of MTC, we will be unable to prescribe any form of GLP-1 to you.

Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 2

If you have a medical history of MEN2, this is a contraindication for use of tirzepatide as well.

Pancreatitis

GLP-1/GIP medications may worsen pancreatitis and cause severe side effects.

There are other considerations when starting GLP-1/GIP medications. Be sure to discuss with your provider if you have a history of stomach problems, kidney problems, gallbladder issues, or severe allergic reactions.
